About this template

This address book spreadsheet keeps the people in your life in one list, with their phone, email and address, the group they belong to and the last time you were in touch. It is for anyone who wants a family organizer for contacts that also notices when a friendship has gone quiet.

Please read: This is a tracker tool only, not financial, tax, legal, medical or any other professional advice or advisory service. It records and calculates what you enter; you are solely responsible for checking all figures, rates, dates and results and for every decision you make. By purchasing, downloading or using it, you accept these terms (your statutory consumer rights are not affected).

Keep in touch, not just keep numbers

Your phone knows every number you have. It does not know who you have quietly stopped speaking to. Type the date you were last in touch, and the file works out the days since. Once that passes a year, the row turns red and is counted on the dashboard.

What the contact list does

  • 300 contacts with phone, email and address
  • Groups from a drop-down, so the counts stay accurate: family, friends, work, neighbors, school, medical, trades and clubs
  • Last in touch and the days since, with anyone past a year shown in red and counted
  • Birthdays this month, counted from the same list, so it works as a birthday list without a separate calendar
  • A card list column with its own count, so the holiday card list is ready every December

Five connected tabs

  • Start Here and Setup: walk you through getting started in a few minutes
  • Contacts: the main list everything else reads from
  • Tasks: anything the contact list does not cover
  • Dashboard: group counts, birthdays this month, card list count and who you have not spoken to in a year

A filled example and a blank copy

The example copy holds 48 contacts across eight groups, with six birthdays this month and ten people nobody has spoken to in a year. The blank copy is ready for your own contacts.

Works with

  • Microsoft Excel 2016, 2019, 2021 and Microsoft 365, on Windows and Mac, and LibreOffice
  • Google Sheets with a free Google account. The Google Sheets version is a real workbook you take a copy of, not a PDF with a link in it.
  • No dynamic arrays, no macros, no add-ins and no subscription

What you download

  • Two Excel workbooks: the filled example and a blank one
  • The instruction guide, with one-click links to the Google Sheets versions (filled and blank)
  • The terms of use as a PDF

Your files are ready the moment payment clears, for personal and business use on your own devices. Please do not share or resell them. Questions? Use our contact page and we will help.
