About this template
This CEU tracker is a continuing education log for nurses, social workers, counselors, teachers and other licensed professionals who renew by hours. It records each course by provider, format and category, tracks whether you have the certificate, and shows how far you are from your requirement.
Please read: This is a tracker tool only, not financial, tax, legal, medical or any other professional advice or advisory service. It records and calculates what you enter; you are solely responsible for checking all figures, rates, dates and results and for every decision you make. By purchasing, downloading or using it, you accept these terms (your statutory consumer rights are not affected).
Hours by category, with ethics on its own
Most boards do not just want hours. They want hours in named categories, with a certificate for each. The log has eight categories, and ethics hours are shown at the top on their own, because ethics is the category almost every board names separately and the one people tend to be short of near the deadline.
The certificate, in three states
Each entry is marked saved, waiting or none. Entries with no certificate are counted, because an audit asks for the certificate and a total on its own proves nothing.
Requirement and gap
Enter your requirement on the Setup tab and the CPD log subtracts what you have done: 150 needed, 106.5 logged, 43.5 to go. A running total sits on every row.
Certifications expire too
A certificate expiry column counts anything due within 90 days, because a lapsed safeguarding certificate can be a bigger problem than a short hour count.
- 200 entries with provider, format and category
- Eight categories, with ethics counted at the top
- Certificate saved, waiting or none, counted
- Your requirement and what is left
- A running total on every row
- Expiry dates, with 90 days counted
- Goals and Tasks tabs for everything the main log does not cover, and a dashboard reading all of it
Six connected tabs: Start Here, Setup, CPD, Tasks, Goals and Dashboard. The example copy holds 106.5 hours across 28 entries, 34 of them ethics, with 43.5 still to go against a 150-hour cycle and two entries with no certificate. The blank copy is ready for your own professional development, and the Start Here tab walks you through setup in a few minutes.

Can I set my board's required hours?
Yes. You enter the requirement on the Setup tab, and the log shows how many hours are left.
