About this template

This attendance tracker is a class register and attendance sheet that does the arithmetic for you. Teachers and form tutors mark five sessions a week, and the file works out an attendance rate for every pupil and every week, flagging anyone who falls below ninety percent.

Please read: This is a tracker tool only, not financial, tax, legal, medical or any other professional advice or advisory service. It records and calculates what you enter; you are solely responsible for checking all figures, rates, dates and results and for every decision you make. By purchasing, downloading or using it, you accept these terms (your statutory consumer rights are not affected).

A rate per pupil and per week

A register that does not calculate a percentage is just squared paper. Here, both rates come out of the same grid. The pupil view finds the child who is quietly slipping. The week view finds the week half the class had flu.

Ninety percent is the line

Any pupil under ninety percent turns red automatically, without anyone sorting the list. Three numbers sit at the top: sessions possible, attended and missed. The last is the one a head of year usually asks for.

The roll on its own tab

Pupils live on the Students tab, so each name is typed once and the register reads it from there. That keeps the attendance record tidy all year.

  • 39 weeks, five sessions a week
  • 40 pupils on the roll
  • An attendance rate per pupil, worked out
  • An attendance rate per week, worked out
  • Under ninety percent shown in red
  • Sessions possible, attended and missed
  • A dashboard reading the register

Five tabs and a filled example

Start Here, Setup, Students, Attendance and Dashboard. The example copy holds a year of five sessions a week for 24 pupils: 4,468 of 4,680 sessions attended, a 95.5% rate and 212 missed. The blank copy is ready for your own class, and the Start Here tab walks you through setup in a few minutes. It suits a primary school class, a form group or any teacher spreadsheet that needs student attendance by the session.
