About this template
This co-parenting planner is a shared record for separated parents who want one clear, factual account of where the children slept, when handovers happened and who paid for what. You type two dates for each stay, and the file works out the nights and the split between you.
Please read: This is a tracker tool only, not financial, tax, legal, medical or any other professional advice or advisory service. It records and calculates what you enter; you are solely responsible for checking all figures, rates, dates and results and for every decision you make. By purchasing, downloading or using it, you accept these terms (your statutory consumer rights are not affected).
Nights, worked out for you
The number of nights is what a court, a mediator or a maintenance calculation usually asks for. On the Handovers tab you enter the date the children arrive and the date they go back. The nights in between are calculated, totaled for each parent and shown as a percentage split for the whole custody schedule.
A handover log with place and outcome
- 200 handover rows, each with from, to and where it took place
- Whether each handover was on time, late or missed, with late and missed counted separately and shown in red
- A shared costs column on the same row, with who paid, so shared expenses and the schedule are one record
- Notes on every row
A calendar shows the plan. This file is a custody tracker and visitation log that both of you can read, so neither of you has to rebuild the year from memory.
Six connected tabs
- Start Here and Setup: walk you through getting started in a few minutes
- Handovers: the main record of stays, nights and costs
- Tasks: forms, appointments and anything else that is not a handover
- Today: what is due today and coming up this week, from the same task list
- Dashboard: reads all of it in one view
A filled example and a blank copy
The example copy shows a year on a 2-2-3 pattern: 259 nights logged, a 51/49 split and eight handovers late or missed. The blank copy is ready for your own arrangement.

Frequently asked questions
Does it work in Excel and Google Sheets?
Yes. The Excel workbooks run on Excel 2016 or later on Windows and Mac, and the instruction guide has one-click links to copy the Google Sheets versions with a free Google account.
How are nights counted?
You enter the date the children arrive and the date they go back. The file calculates the nights between, totals them for each parent and shows the split as a percentage.
Can it record late or missed handovers?
Yes. Each handover is marked on time, late or missed, and late and missed are counted separately and shown in red.
Can we track shared costs?
Yes. Each handover row has a shared costs column with who paid, and there are notes on every row.
Is this legal advice or an official custody record?
No. It is a tracker that records and calculates what you enter. You are responsible for checking the figures and for how you use them.
