This house hunting spreadsheet is for anyone viewing homes to buy or rent who wants to compare them on the same terms. Each property gets four ratings, a single score, a cost per bedroom and a commute time, so the decision rests on numbers rather than on how the hallway felt.

By the fourth property viewing, nobody remembers the first one accurately. Rate every home out of ten for condition, space, light and area, and the file averages the four into one score on every row.

How is each property scored?

You rate condition, space, light and area out of ten, and the file averages the four into one score for that property.

Can I use it for renting as well as buying?

Yes. Each viewing has an asking price, bedrooms and commute, which works for rentals and purchases alike.

How many homes can I compare?

120 viewings, each with its own score, cost per bedroom and verdict.

Can I mark which homes are on my shortlist?
