About this template
This LEGO collection tracker is for builders and collectors with shelves or a loft full of boxes and no single list of what is there. Each set gets one line with its set number, condition, where it is kept and what it is worth, and the workbook totals the lot.
A sealed set and a built one are different assets, often worth very different amounts. This tracker keeps that difference on every line.
Please read: This is a tracker tool only, not financial, tax, legal, medical or any other professional advice or advisory service. It records and calculates what you enter; you are solely responsible for checking all figures, rates, dates and results and for every decision you make. By purchasing, downloading or using it, you accept these terms (your statutory consumer rights are not affected).
Condition and value on every line
- Five conditions as a dropdown: sealed, boxed, built, loose or no box, because on retired lego sets that one column is most of the value
- Paid against worth now: the gain on each set, in money and as a share of what you paid, totaled across the collection
- The best single line, named on the summary strip
- An insurance figure: the whole collection at today's value, with nothing to add up yourself
A lego set list you can search
Theme, subtheme and set number each have their own column, so a list of 300 sets is still easy to search a year from now. A location column records where every box lives. It works for sealed lego sets kept as an investment and for built sets on display, and for other models and any toy collection that follows the same pattern.
Six connected tabs
- Start Here and Setup: a guided start and your settings
- Collection: every set, with condition, cost and current value
- Tasks: jobs such as getting the collection insured or chasing the set that got away
- Bills: the costs that come with the hobby
- Dashboard: the whole collection on one screen, filled in automatically
A filled-in collection to start from
The worked example holds 35 sets, from a large flagship set to a box of loose small cars, with a gain worked out across the whole collection and the best line named. Two sets are worth less than they cost, one reissued and one broken up for parts, which is how a real collection behaves. A blank copy is ready for yours, so you always know your lego value at a glance.

Frequently asked questions
Does it work in Excel and Google Sheets?
Yes. You download Excel workbooks for Excel 2016 or later on Windows and Mac, and the instruction guide has one-click links to make your own copy in Google Sheets with a free Google account.
Does it look up set values for me?
No. You type what you paid and what each set is worth now, and the file works out the gain per set and the total for insurance.
Can I record whether a set is sealed or built?
Yes. Condition is a dropdown with five states: sealed, boxed, built, loose or no box.
How many sets can I list?
The Collection tab holds 300 sets, each with theme, subtheme, set number and where it is kept.
Can I use it for models that are not LEGO?
Yes. It is a LEGO and model collection tracker, and the columns work the same way for any boxed model sets.
