About this template

This life planner spreadsheet keeps your tasks, recurring jobs, habits, goals, money, meals, workouts and cleaning in one file, on one dashboard and two calendars that fill themselves. It runs on Excel 2016 or newer, so you do not need a Microsoft 365 subscription.

Please read: This is a tracker tool only, not financial, tax, legal, medical or any other professional advice or advisory service. It records and calculates what you enter; you are solely responsible for checking all figures, rates, dates and results and for every decision you make. By purchasing, downloading or using it, you accept these terms (your statutory consumer rights are not affected).

The dashboard

Pick this month or any month and the cards and the money, habit and task panels follow. Nothing on it is typed.

  • Five live cards: tasks done, habits, left to spend, saved and the next bill
  • The next seven days of tasks, recurring jobs, bills, events and workouts as a calendar strip
  • Today: your list, your breakfast, lunch and dinner, and the habits and water still to tick
  • A priority matrix sorting open tasks into do first, schedule, delegate and later
  • Needs attention: overdue tasks, missed recurring jobs and unpaid bills, with days late
  • Budget against actual by category, and where the money went against the month before
  • Habits, goals and savings progress, eight weeks of workout minutes and your weight trend

Recurring tasks without Microsoft 365

Set a job once, daily, weekdays, weekly, every 2 weeks, monthly, every 3 months, yearly or every N days, with a start and an end date, and it lands on both calendars and a checklist by itself. Tick it off from a drop-down and the tick stays on that day.

Two calendars that fill themselves

The monthly calendar shows tasks, recurring jobs, bills, debt payments, goal deadlines, events, birthdays and workouts on their days, with a filter, today highlighted and done items struck through. The weekly planner shows up to eight items a day and a time-block grid in 15, 30 or 60 minute steps. Everything is dated from the day you open it, so the worked example always shows the current month.

Twenty-three connected tabs

  • Plan: Start Here, Setup, Dashboard, Monthly Calendar, Weekly Planner, Tasks, Recurring Rules, Recurring Tasks, Habit Tracker with streaks, Goals with four milestones, and Events
  • Money: Transactions, a monthly Budget that works as a budget planner, Bills with autopay and due dates, Savings for up to 12 sinking funds, and Debts for up to 15 debts with a debt-free month
  • Meals, health and home: Meal Setup, a weekly Meal Planner, a Grocery List sorted by aisle, Workouts, Weight and Water in kg or lb, and a Cleaning schedule
  • 300 tasks, 60 recurring rules, 20 habits and 1,500 transactions in the Excel file
  • Overdue and over-budget items change color, always with a word, and drop-downs come from your own Setup

You get a filled-in copy to click through and a blank one for your own life, in Excel and in Google Sheets.

  • Google Sheets with a free Google account. The Google Sheets version is a real workbook, not a PDF with a link in it.
  • No add-ins, no macros, no subscription and no bank connection

No. It runs on Excel 2016 or newer on Windows and Mac, and the instruction guide has two one-click links to the Google Sheets versions for a free Google account.

How do recurring tasks work?

Set a job once on Recurring Rules, choosing how often it repeats and its start and end dates, and it appears on both calendars and on a checklist by itself.

Can it track habits and streaks?

Yes. The Habit Tracker takes daily, weekly and monthly habits, with a month grid for each month, done percentage, streak and best streak.
