About this template
This volunteer hours log is for students, including any student volunteer working toward a target, award participants and anyone who has to prove their service hours to someone else. It records every shift with the organization, the kind of work and the supervisor, and keeps the hours that have been signed off apart from the ones still waiting.
Please read: This is a tracker tool only, not financial, tax, legal, medical or any other professional advice or advisory service. It records and calculates what you enter; you are solely responsible for checking all figures, rates, dates and results and for every decision you make. By purchasing, downloading or using it, you accept these terms (your statutory consumer rights are not affected).
Only signed-off hours count
Hours nobody has signed off are hours that do not count. Here, signed off is a state rather than a tick: yes, waiting or no. The hours in each state are totaled separately, because the verified number is the one a school, an award or a court will look at.
A target and the gap to it
Set your target on the Setup tab and the log subtracts what you have done. 200 hours needed, 157 logged, 43 to go: that one subtraction is the reason to keep the log. A running total sits on every row, so you can point at any date and say where you stood.
What the community service tracker records
- 250 shifts with organization, kind of work and supervisor
- Hours signed off, waiting and refused, totaled apart
- Your target and the hours left to reach it
- A running total on every row
- The number of different organizations you have served with
- A Goals tab for the rest of an award, beyond the hours
- A Tasks tab for everything the main log does not cover
- A dashboard that reads all of it
Kind of work and supervisor are on every shift because an award, a court or a license usually asks who signed it and what sort of work it was. That makes it useful for school service hours, graduation hours and court ordered hours alike.
Six connected tabs and a filled example
Start Here, Setup, Hours, Tasks, Goals and Dashboard. The example copy shows 157 hours across four organizations, 113.5 of them signed off, with 43 to go against a 200-hour target. The blank copy is ready for your own record, and the Start Here tab walks you through setup in a few minutes.
