This candle making business spreadsheet is for makers who sell candles at markets, online, wholesale or through workshops. It adds up what each batch really cost you, works out the cost per candle, and keeps the rest of the books for the year in the same workbook.

A batch calculator for real candle costs

Wax, fragrance, a jar, a wick, a lid and a label are six costs inside a single candle. The Components and Batches tabs add those costs up for each batch and divide by the number of candles you poured. Compare that cost per candle with your price and you will know whether your candle pricing is right.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use it in Google Sheets or only Excel?

Both. The Excel workbooks run on Excel 2016 or later on Windows and Mac, and the instruction guide has one-click links to copy the Google Sheets versions with a free Google account.

How does it work out cost per candle?

The Components and Batches tabs add up the costs of wax, fragrance, vessels, wicks and the rest for each batch, then divide by the number of candles you poured.

Can I track wholesale and workshop income separately?

Yes. Product sales, Wholesale, Custom and corporate, and Workshops are separate income lines in every total.

Does it set my prices for me?

No. It shows what each candle costs you so you can compare it with your price. The price you charge is your decision.

Will it calculate my tax?

No. It gives monthly and quarterly totals and a profit and loss. Tax rates and what you can claim are yours to set and check.
