About this template

This 1099 tracker records who you paid, how much and when, so you can see which contractors crossed the threshold. It is for any small business that pays contractors and needs those totals ready at year end.

Please read: This is a tracker tool only, not financial, tax, legal, medical or any other professional advice or advisory service. It records and calculates what you enter; you are solely responsible for checking all figures, rates, dates and results and for every decision you make. By purchasing, downloading or using it, you accept these terms (your statutory consumer rights are not affected).

Type a name once

Each contractor is a name you type once. Paid to date, job count, average payment and last paid all calculate themselves from the ledger, for up to 60 contractors. Whether you pay a single subcontractor or a regular crew, the totals stay current. Every figure on the dashboard is calculated from the tabs behind it, and nothing is typed into a summary, so the front page always agrees with the rows it came from.

Invoices as well

An Invoices tab holds 120 invoices with client, amount, status and due date. It totals what was invoiced, what was paid, what is outstanding and what is overdue, and counts the days late on anything unpaid, so it works as an invoice tracker too.

Thirteen connected tabs

Every tab reads the same source list, so nothing is entered twice. Behind the contractor payments sits a full bookkeeping ledger:

  • The ledger: Income and Expenses, 500 rows each, with the tax split out per line, your own categories and account balances
  • The tax: sales tax by quarter and by rate, quarterly set-asides, and mileage valued at your rate
  • The reporting: profit and loss, monthly and quarterly views, any date range, this year against last, and a live dashboard

You get real spreadsheet files, not a PDF with a link in it: Excel and Google Sheets, each filled in and each blank and ready for yours. The filled copy is the file in the photos, so you can see how it behaves before you type anything.

How does it total what each contractor was paid?

You type the contractor name once, and paid to date, job count, average and last paid are calculated from the payments in the ledger.

Does it file 1099 forms?

No. It records and totals payments so you can see who crossed the threshold. It is a tracker, not tax advice or a filing service.
