About this template
This craft cost calculator works out what a piece costs in materials before you decide its price. It is for makers running a handmade business who want product costing they can trust rather than a rough guess.
Please read: This is a tracker tool only, not financial, tax, legal, medical or any other professional advice or advisory service. It records and calculates what you enter; you are solely responsible for checking all figures, rates, dates and results and for every decision you make. By purchasing, downloading or using it, you accept these terms (your statutory consumer rights are not affected).
Cost built from the recipe
Each product has a recipe: every material that goes into it, in the quantity used, at the unit price you set. The material cost adds itself up from those lines, and if one price changes, every piece that uses it re-costs itself. Every figure on the dashboard is calculated from the tabs behind it, and nothing is typed into a summary, so the front page always agrees with the rows it came from.
Ten connected tabs
Every tab reads the same source list, so nothing is entered twice:
- What you sell: Products, 120 rows, and Materials, 120 rows, with a recipe per product, cost built from the recipe, and one product list feeding everything, plus 300 recipe lines
- What it is worth: suggested price, margin before the fee and after it, stock valued at cost and at retail, and a reorder flag
- What sold: Orders, 400 lines, with profit per line, sales by channel and by month, and a live dashboard
The suggested price and the margin before and after the selling fee make it a pricing calculator as well, so you can see the profit margin on each piece before it goes on sale.
You get real spreadsheet files, not a PDF with a link in it: Excel and Google Sheets, each filled in and each blank and ready for yours. The filled copy is the file in the photos, so you can see how it behaves before you type anything.
