About this template
This tshirt business planner works out what each garment really costs you, run by run. It is for print shops and small clothing brands that want the blank, the print, the neck label and the mailer added together, so a hoodie and a tee can be compared on real numbers.
Please read: This is a tracker tool only, not financial, tax, legal, medical or any other professional advice or advisory service. It records and calculates what you enter; you are solely responsible for checking all figures, rates, dates and results and for every decision you make. By purchasing, downloading or using it, you accept these terms (your statutory consumer rights are not affected).
The blank is not the cost
Most clothing business templates offer an inventory list and an order form and never add the four costs together. Here each print run carries its full garment cost.
- 120 print runs, each with design, price and status
- 300 component lines for blanks, print, labels and mailers, each tagged to a run from a dropdown
- Cost per garment calculated from those components
Whether you use screen printing, DTG, embroidery or vinyl, the print is simply a component line with a cost.
Margin per run
Each run is checked against the price you charge, and the margin turns red under 40%. When your supplier raises the price of a blank, it shows up here first. An if it all sells figure, made times price less cost, is shown for every run, so this works as a margin tracker across your whole range.
Hoodie against tee
An embroidered hoodie and a one-color screen printed tee are different businesses. With cost per garment side by side, you can see which runs earn their place instead of relying on a feeling that hoodies are better.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need Excel, or can I use Google Sheets?
Either. The download has Excel files for Excel 2016 or later on Windows and Mac, and the instruction guide has one-click links to copy the Google Sheets versions with a free Google account.
What goes into the cost per garment?
Every component line tagged to a run, such as the blank, the print, the neck label and the mailer, summed and divided by how many garments you made.
Does it work for DTG or embroidery as well as screen printing?
Yes. The print method is entered as a component line with its own cost, whatever method you use.
How will I know if a run is not profitable enough?
Margin is calculated per run against your price and turns red under 40%.
How many runs can I track?
Up to 120 print runs and 300 component lines.
